SugarSentry Terms of Use

SugarSentry is not a medical device. It shows data from your own account with a compatible CGM provider for information only. Keep the alarms on your pump and sensor switched on, confirm any reading on your pump, sensor or a blood glucose meter before acting on it, and follow the advice of your healthcare professional. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

1. About these terms

These terms apply to the SugarSentry app, its web link and its server (together, "SugarSentry"). SugarSentry is provided by TARMO SARI ("we", "us"). By installing or using SugarSentry you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. What SugarSentry is

SugarSentry is a companion display for data that already exists in your own account with a compatible CGM provider. You sign in with your own provider login, and SugarSentry reads your glucose, trend, insulin and pump status and shows them to you on your phone, Apple Watch, CarPlay and a web link.

SugarSentry only reads data. It cannot connect to your pump or sensor, change any setting, deliver or stop insulin, or change your therapy in any way.
The alerts SugarSentry shows are the alerts your pump reports to your CGM provider, plus warnings when readings stop arriving or the connection needs attention. Your pump's own settings decide which alerts exist.
SugarSentry is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by any CGM, insulin pump or sensor manufacturer.

3. Not a medical device, and not a replacement for one

SugarSentry is for information only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and it has not been cleared or approved by any medical device regulator. It does not replace your pump, your sensor, their alarms, a blood glucose meter or medical advice. Do not make treatment decisions, such as dosing insulin or treating a low, based on SugarSentry alone.

4. Alerts can be late, missing or wrong

An alert has to travel from your pump through your CGM provider's servers, the internet, our server, Apple's push notification service and your phone before you see it. Any of these can delay, drop or change it, and most of them are outside our control. Your phone's settings, Focus and silent modes, battery, network and notification permissions also decide whether an alert reaches you. We do not promise that any alert, reading or status will arrive, arrive on time, or be accurate or complete. When SugarSentry cannot be sure a reading is current, it shows "--" instead of a number, but you should not rely on that either.

5. Your responsibilities

You are at least 18 years old. If you monitor another person, you are their parent or legal guardian, or you have their permission and the right to see their data.
You keep your pump, sensor and their alarms working and switched on, and you do not rely on SugarSentry as your only way to be alerted.
You keep SugarSentry's notifications allowed, the app up to date, and your phone secured with a passcode.
The web link is shared only by you. SugarSentry creates a random link for each person that cannot be guessed, but anyone you give it to can see that person's live data until you replace it. Share it only with people you trust, such as a grandparent, a school nurse or a doctor. Create a new link and the old one stops working at once.

6. Your CGM provider account

Your use of your CGM provider's service is governed by the provider's own terms. SugarSentry depends on that service working and staying available to it. The provider can change or end that access at any time, and SugarSentry may then stop working, fully or partly, without notice.

7. SugarSentry is provided "as is"

To the fullest extent the law allows, SugarSentry is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, availability and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or your inability to use, SugarSentry, including loss caused by an alert or reading that is late, missing, inaccurate or not delivered, by relying on SugarSentry, or by anyone you shared a web link with. Where we are liable despite this, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for SugarSentry.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or intentional misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, and nothing in them affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Changes to SugarSentry and to these terms

SugarSentry is free. We may change, suspend or end it, fully or partly, at any time. We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and continuing to use SugarSentry after a change means you accept it.

10. Privacy

How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Estonia. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
